Yadir Vázquez Gallo

General director of the ballet “DanzArt”, Professor, 1st dancer, Soloist and Choreographer of Spanish Dances for the Spanish Ballet of Cuba.

Yadir was born in Habana, Cuba in 1971. He was part of the Gallician Folk Group “Aires Galegos da Habana”, belonging to the Coordinating Office of the Xunta of Galicia in Cuba, where he became the principal dancer, dominating all the concepts of this style of dance. During this time he had the privilege to receive instruction  Prof. Gallego Ernesto Lagaron Vidal.

Likewise he joined the band “Iberian Dances”, belonging to the center “Pro Danza”, directed by the great supreme mother Laura Alonso and the Spanish Light Opera Company and Operettas “Gonzalo Roig”, taking on from the beginning solo roles and cuerpo de baile de las danzas of numerous Spanish light operas and operettas.

In January of 1996, he joined the Spanish Ballet of Cuba under the direction of the first dancer and choreographer Eduardo Veitia and the general direction of first dancer Assoluta Alicia Alonso.

He had the privilege taking classes with clases the great master Antonio Gades and the master of flamenco and Spanish classical Paz Díaz Lemus, as well as classes and conferences with top figures from flamenco and Spanish dance in general like Manolo Marín, the chair of Classical and Flamenco department of the Royal Conservatory in Madrid, Ana Ruiz, a flamencologist at the University of Granada, Israel Galván, Eva la Hierbabuena, Joan Focsas master of Catalunian dance, Antonio Jaén and Eduardo Veitía among others.

In 2001 he became the director of his company, así como his work as professor of Spanish dance since 1996 at the National and Vocational Academy of Spanish Dance in Cuba and the different international summer courses and BALLESPA, all of them auspiciados by the Spanish dance in Cuba.

Among the countries in which he has worked are Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala, Spain, Andorra, Italy, the former Soviet Union and Bolivia.

He is currently general director of dance and “DanzArt” art workshops, recently created, included in which are his students, love and dedication to dance.
